Shooting at Howe Park Leaves 4 People Shot in the Arden-Arcade Area of Sacramento

Law enforcement in Sacramento are examining a violent incident that took place late Saturday at the Howe Community Park area at the moment deputies were shutting down an unlawful assembly of hundreds of attendees.

What Led to the Shooting

Sacramento County law enforcement initially got calls about the Arden-Arcade park at about 6:30 Saturday evening after getting calls of individuals who may have had concealed firearms. Not long after, additional information came in concerning a potential altercation breaking out at the location.

A law enforcement helicopter flew over the park but found nothing to substantiate the fight report. Even so, it was evident that hundreds of people had assembled at the park in an unauthorized manner.

Just as the crowd began to move that 20 to 25 rounds of ammunition rang out. The barrage of gunfire sent hundreds fleeing. Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies at once began locating gunshot victims.

The Shooting Victims

When the dust settled, four gunshot victims were discovered with shooting injuries. The shooting victims — including a female and three males ranging in age through their in their 20s at the time of the incident — were transported to hospitals in the Sacramento area. Medical personnel reported that two victims sustained immediate injuries, one sustained moderate wounds, and one suffered minor injuries. According to authorities, no fatalities were reported and all four were stable.

These discoveries pointed to that one of the gunmen had been discharging rounds toward the south from the Cottage Way area toward the Home Depot store. The store itself was put under lockdown for a period of time. CSI investigators and detectives remained on scene through the early morning hours.

Detainees in Solano County

Information obtained over scanner radio traffic showed that a Kia vehicle had been detained in Solano County. Four suspects were stopped and detained. Sacramento law enforcement were en route to collect those detained to transport the detainees for further questioning. Video evidence confirmed that the shooting involved two separate gunmen.
